NHRC notice to senior officers of Panipat, Haryana into allegations of two minors' death after eating mid-day meal

The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Deputy Commissioner and SP, Panipat, Haryana into allegations that two minor boys died after eating mid-day meal at an Anganwadi centre in Village Pardhana. The notice is returnable in four weeks.

The Commission's directions are based on a complaint quoting media reports about the incident. The complainant has requested for the Commission's intervention saying that no FIR had been registered in the matter.

Reportedly, condition of two minor brothers Sagar, aged 7 years and Raman, aged 4 years, deteriorated after they ate mid-day meal. However, nothing happened to other children who had also taken the same meal. The incident is reported to have happened sometime in the month of March, 2013. The children's dead bodies were sent to the General Hospital, for postmortem.
