NHRC Chairperson Mr. Justice H.L. Dattu unveils and launches the Silver Jubilee Logo and Tagline of the Commission (09.07.2018)

Mr. Justice H.L. Dattu, Chairperson, National Human Rights Commission, NHRC India, today unveiled and launched the Silver Jubilee Logo and Tagline of the Commission and kick started the campaign of its silver jubilee celebrations. The Commission has planned a series of special programmes and activities in the run up to the silver jubilee of its foundation on the 12th October, 2018.




Addressing the gathering at a brief ceremony in the Manav Adhikar Bhawan, New Delhi, Justice Dattu called upon the people, including the officers and staff of the Commission, to join its silver jubilee celebrations and show their commitment and solidarity towards the promotion and protection of human rights in the country along with this apex human rights institution.


He lauded the people, who gave a thought to the contribution of the Commission towards human rights and participated in huge numbers from different parts of the country by sending their entries for the NHRC's Silver Jubilee Logo Designing and Tagline/Slogan writing competitions, organized online through MyGov Portal. He also congratulated the four winners of these competitions, whose efforts resulted in the designing of NHRC Silver Jubilee logo and tagline. He said that these competitions were organized to encourage people to be part of the movement of promotion and protection of human rights.


On the occasion, a documentary film - 'NHRC: 25 years- billion hopes' made by the Commission through the Films Division, spanning its 25 years, was also premiered on the occasion. The film is an attempt to capture various facets of the functioning of the Commission since its beginning on the 12th October, 1993 besides featuring, its former Chairpersons, Members, senior officers and other dignitaries, including the sitting Chief Justice of India, Mr. Justice Dipak Misra, Nobel Laureate and leading child rights activist, Mr. Kailash Satyarthi, Magsaysay Awardee and National Convenor of Safai Karamchari Andloan, Mr. Bezwada Wilson, former Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. P.K. Pincha, who have been part of the Commission's 25 years of the journey.


The number of events being organized to commemorate 25 years of the NHRC, include, among others, Walk for human rights, Human Rights Mela, Painting competition, Postal Stamp and Special Cover, International Human Rights Conclave/Conference, Silver Jubilee memorial lecture, Street theatre competition and festival, Short films on human rights competition and festival, Screening of human rights films and panel discussion on the 'Role of media in creating awareness on human rights' and special publications, which will culminate into a grand ceremony on its Foundation Day on the 12th October, 2018.
