Educational Visits of NHRC by Universities & Colleges


Guidelines For Educational Visit Programme-
1. Introduction:

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, is entrusted with a vital role in safeguarding and promoting human rights for all citizens. Section 12(h) of the Act mandates the NHRC to actively promote human rights awareness through various means, including seminars and educational outreach programs.

2. Invitation to Educational Institutions:

In accordance with this mandate, the NHRC invites proposals from educational institutions to participate in its educational visit program. This program offers students an invaluable opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the Commission's functions and its crucial role in upholding human rights.

3. Program Objectives:

The NHRC's Educational Visit Program is designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Highlight NHRC's Role: Provide students with a clear understanding of the NHRC's structure, functions, and investigative processes.
  • Enhance Understanding of Human Rights: Expose students to the fundamental principles and frameworks of Human Rights enshrined in PHR Act, 1993.
  • Empower Future Generations:  Inspire students to become active participants in promoting and protecting human rights.
4. Program Content:

During their half-day visit to the NHRC headquarters in Delhi, students will participate in the interactive sessions, where expert NHRC faculty will conduct engaging classroom sessions on the Commission's operations, including:

  • Overview of NHRC (Structure and Functions)
  • Law Division
  • Investigation Division
  • Complaints Management System

Following the detailed presentations, students will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with officers of the NHRC.

5. Application Process:

Educational institutions interested in participating in the NHRC visit program are encouraged to submit formal proposals outlining the details of their student group through online portal. Applications must be submitted at least one week prior to the proposed date of visit.
