NHRC Library at a Glance

National Human Rights Commission Library was established in 1994, with the objective of facilitating research into issues relating human rights and for reference purposes, primarily for officials working in the Commission. The Library developed its collection from the angle of Human Rights and Literature on allied academic disciplines of Law. At present, the Library has 28,436 documents which include Books, Bound Journals, Indian and Foreign Law Reports, Commentaries, Digest, Local Acts and Bare-Acts CDs, DVDs, Album, Journals, NHRC Publications and Dictionaries etc. All the books in the Library are classified according to the Universal Decimal Classification scheme. The catalogue has three parts: Authors, Alphabetical and Classified.

Working Hours

Library is open on all working days of the week from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Except on Saturday, Sunday and other Gazetted holidays).

Membership

Membership of NHRC library is open to the officers and officials of the Commission. No outsider is offered membership except former Chairpersons, Members, Officers and Staff of the Commission.

Services
  • Inter Library Loan: The Library also provides Inter Library Loan service to meet the demand of the user in a better way because no library can acquire all types of resources in different formats. It means lending books to and borrowing books from other libraries for the use of readers.
  • DELNET: For online access to the catalogue of different libraries, NHRC offers DELNET (Developing Library Network) services.
  • NHRC Library is fully automated with e-granthalaya software (4.0). We circulate the books through e-granthalaya.
  • We also provide full Library access to the interns of the Summer and Winter Internship programmes of the NHRC.
  • Reference and Bibliographic services.
  • Circulation of Books and other Documents.
