2. Killing of 15 villagers by naxalites in Chhattisgarh
The Commission has asked for comments from the Chief Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh on a news report which said 15 villagers were killed by naxalities on 29 April 2006 in the State. Taking suo-motu cognizance based on the report, which said out of 52 villagers of Chhattisgarh staying in Dornapal relief camp, 15 were killed by the naxalities after being abducted. These villagers had been participating in a peace campaign against the Maoists in Dantewada and Bijapur Districts.
After observing the contents of the news report, the Commission said that if the contents are true, there is a serious issue of violation of human rights.
