Media carried a report on the 19th September, 2010 alleging that a six year old boy, named Faizal, died when he fell down in a pit on the 18th September, 2010, while playing in a locality of North-East Delhi. It was also alleged that the mishap occurred as no proper safety measures like coverage on the pit was undertaken by the concerned authorities. The Commission observed on the 22nd September, 2010, that the contents of the press report, if true, raise serious issue of human rights violation of Faizal, and issued a notice to the Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi, calling for a report in the matter.
