A delegation from NCHR of Oman visits NHRC, India

A six member delegation from National Commission of Human Rights of Oman led by its Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Riyami visited the NHRC, India today and interacted with the Members and senior officers of the Commission.
The NHRC, India delegation was led by Member, Mr. Justice G.P. Mathur. The visiting delegates were given a deep insight into the provisions of Protection of Human Rights Act, selection process of the Members of the Commission, its jurisdiction, structure and functioning including handling of complaints and the help extended to the human rights institutions of different countries for improving their complaint management system.
The NCHR of Oman was set up in the year 2010 under a royal decree by the sultan of Oman in the year 2008. Mr. Riyami said that in Oman all the citizens irrespective of their gender enjoy equal rights, equal opportunity for education and employment. He expressed the hope that the knowledge they got during their interaction will help a lot in improving the functioning of their Commission. He also sought further cooperation from the NHRC, India's cooperation in streamlining the work of the NCHR of Oman.
