A youth dies after being pushed out of a moving train by a TTE: NHRC notices to Secretary, Railway Board and SP, Railway Police, Sant Kabir Nagar, UP (29.7.2015)

The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a youth fell on the track and died when a Travel Ticket Examiner (TTE) on board Gorakhdham Express pushed him out of the running train near Khalilabad Railway Station on the 23rd July, 2015. Reportedly, the youth was travelling from Delhi to Gorakhpur. During checking in the General Compartment of the train, the youth was found ticketless. The TTE demanded Rs.500/- from him which he could not pay.
The Commission has observed that the contents of the press report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim. Accordingly, it has issued notices to the Secretary, Railway Board and Senior Superintendent of Railway Police, Sant Kabir Nagar, Uttar Pradesh calling for reports within two weeks.
