The Commission has taken cognizance of a complaint alleging illegal detention of Anil Singh and eight others, working as house staff at 7, Safdarjung Road and has asked the Delhi Police to submit a factual report by today i.e. 8 June 2006.
The complaint dated 6 June 2006 filed by relatives of the detainees, who did not name themselves, alleges that Anil Singh and eight others were forcibly picked up from 7, Safdarjung Road in the morning of 2 June 2006 and taken to police station, Tughlak Road. Ever since, all these persons are illegally detained in the Police Station and during this period of 4 to 5 days, they were mercilessly beaten by the Police. The complaint says those picked up were neither produced before any court nor released by the Police. Also, none of them were permitted to contact their relatives.
The Commission has asked the Delhi Police to submit a factual report by today i.e. 8 June 2006.
