Baby delivered in a queue of a govt. hospital dies in Chandigarh

Media carried report on the 22nd July, 2010, that a lady delivered a baby while standing in a queue of a Government Hospital in Chandigarh on the 21st July, 2010. Even after the delivery, she was not given proper medical care. As a result, the infant died immediately after the birth.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the media report, the Commission on the 26th July, 2010, observed that the contents of media report, if true, raise serious issue of violation of human rights, and issued a notice to the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), Union Territory Secretariat, Chandigarh calling for a report in the matter.
