A Parliamentary delegation from Bangladesh visited the Commission on the 1st May, 2013 and met the Chairperson, Justice Shri K.G. Balakrishnan, Member, Shri Satyabrata Pal and senior officers of the Commission. They were briefed about the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, NHRC's structure, jurisdiction and major issues of human rights violations it has to look into. The visiting delegates spoke about their Human Rights Commission and its activities. They especially raised the issue of migrant workers in the border areas and women's trafficking from Bangladesh to India. They were informed that the Commission has organized sensitization workshops for the BSF personnel patrolling the border areas with Bangladesh. The NHRC officers present during the interaction included, among others, Dr. Ashok Sahu, Secretary General, Shri A.K. Shrivastava, JS (P&A) and Shri J.S. Kochher, JS (Trg.).
