Breach of the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act

Media carried report on the 20th April, 2010 that two students from Africa were seriously injured when their car hit behind an overloaded truck on the Savitri Flyover in South Delhi. The truck was carrying iron rods, protruding six-seven metres beyond the carriage without any indication. These pierced through the occupants of the car when it hit the truck. The Commission taking suo motu cognizance of the incident observed on the 22nd April, 2010 that the concerned government departments are not taking action against the violators of Motor Vehicles Act, and thus compromising with the life of the people on the roads, and issued notices to the Delhi Police Commissioner, and Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi calling for their action taken report in the matter.
