Chairperson reviews Kashmiri Migrants' problem

Paying his second visit this year to Jammu & Kashmir, Chairperson, Dr. Justice A.S. Anand reviewed the decisions taken with regard to improvement of living conditions and other problems of the Kashmiri Pandit Migrants.
Dr. Anand in his meeting with the Relief Commission (Migrants) desired that the list of properties of migrants be displayed at prominent places in Jammu so that the persons become aware of the property left behind.
He further suggested that an amount of Rs.2.30 crores be earmarked for improvement of the migrant camps especially sanitation.
He directed that the decisions taken in the meeting of the Committee set up by NHRC be implemented by June 2005. These include improvement of medical facilities, setting up of laboratory and library in the migrant schools within the camps.
The Chairperson also interacted with some of the migrants and heard their grievances. Dr. Anand had first toured Jammu on 17 May 2003 soon after assuming office on 17 February 2003.
