The Commission bid adieu to Member, Shri Virendra Dayal. Shri Dayal had served two five year terms as Member in the Commission having appointed for the first time in 1993 and again in 1998. Shri Dayal's significant contribution in the field of human rights was highlighted as Chairperson, Members and staff members of the Commission paid glowing tributes to him at the farewell function. Shri Dayal was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1992.
