The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, held an interaction with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders, Ms. Margaret Sekaggya and civil society on the 15th January, 2011 in New Delhi. The Commission shared the concerns of the human rights defenders who risk their safety, while taking up the matters of human rights violations of others. It was informed that all possible steps are being taken by the Commission to protect the interests of human rights defenders. A focal point for human rights defenders with a dedicated mobile telephone number, fax and email has been set up.
