NHRC organizes a day long seminar on the 'Concept of Panchayati Raj and Human Rights' at Kochi, Kerala

The Panchayati Raj Institutions have a major role to play in the protection and promotion of human rights at grassroots level. In order to have an understanding of the functioning of the Panchayati Raj Institutions and their contribution in the area of human rights, the National Human Rights Commission is organizing a day long seminar in Hindi titled 'Concept of Panchayati Raj and Human Rights' at Hotel Renaissance, Kochi in Kerala tomorrow on the 30th July, 2010.

The seminar will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest and NHRC Chairperson, Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan. The Inaugural Session will be chaired by NHRC Member, Mr. P.C. Sharma and Secretary General NHRC, Mr. K.S. Money will deliver the welcome address.

After the Inaugural Session, the seminar will be divided in two academic sessions, which will be addressed by the eminent scholars and jurists on various aspects relating to the role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in the social welfare activities and how these can actively contribute for the cause of human rights.
