Dr. Ashok Sahu joins as Secretary General, NHRC
Dr. Ashok Sahu assumed charge of Secretary General, National Human Rights Commission on the 12th November, 2012. He is a 1975 batch officer of Indian Economic Service. Prior to his appointment to the NHRC, he was holding the post of Principal Advisor, Labour, Employment & Manpower and Development Policy & Perspective Planning Divisions in Planning Commission.
After working as a lecturer in Economics for two years, Dr. Sahu joined IES in 1975. He has served in various capacities in the Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperation, Department of Chemicals & Petro Chemicals, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labour & Employment. Dr. Sahu also served as Consultant Development Economist in the African Development Bank for a brief period.
