Fifth NHRC Police Officer gets Police Medal for Meritorious Services

Mr. Om Prakash Vyas, Deputy Superintendent of Police posted in the Investigation Division of National Human Rights Commission has been chosen for Police Medal for meritorious services on the occasion of Republic Day 2009. This is consecutively fifth time that a police officer from the Commission has been honored with the police medal for meritorious services. Mr. Vyas joined Police Service in 1995 and has been part of several important investigations in matters of human rights violations A few among them include rescue of three girls from a circus in 2004, rescue of Ms. Geeta Sharma of Dhaulpur, who was captive in her house for two years. He was also part of the fact finding team which investigated the activities of Naxalites and Salwa Judum in Chattisgarh.
