Fifth NHRC Police Officer gets President's Police Medal

Mr. Om Prakash Vyas, Deputy Superintendent of Police posted in the Investigation Division of National Human Rights Commission was chosen for Police Medal for meritorious services on the occasion of Republic Day 2009. He is the fifth police officer in the Commission to get this honour. Mr. Vyas joined Investigation Division of the Commission in 1995 and has been part of several important investigations in matters of human rights violations. A few among them include rescue of three girls from a circus in 2004 and rescue of Ms. Geeta Sharma of Dhaulpur, who was captive in her house for two years. He was also part of the fact finding team which verified violation of human rights by the Naxalites and Salwa Judum in Chattisgarh.
