Four lose eyesight post-cataract surgery in Kerala: NHRC issue notice to the State Government
The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that 4 persons, who had undergone cataract surgery in Thrissur Medical College in the last three weeks, lost their eyesight.
The Commission has observed that the press report, if true, raises a serious issue of violation of rights to health of the victims and issued notice to the Principal Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Kerala to submit a report within four weeks.
Reportedly, more than a dozen cataract surgeries were conducted at the Taluk hospital between 22nd July to 5th August, 2013.
