Health Awareness Workshop for Elderly Persons
The National Human Rights Commission organised a 'Health Awareness Workshop and Health Camp for the Elderly Persons' in collaboration with Help Age India at Siliguri, West Bengal on the 6th November, 2014. Addressing the gathering, Justice Shri K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC said that the Commission is deeply concerned about the protection and promotion of the rights of elderly and has taken various measures in this regard, including organising such awareness workshops.
Justice Balakrishnan said there is a need to promote policies and programmes to deal with the problems of elderly persons with a holistic approach and also build awareness about them. The main objective of this camp, which was the third in the series organised by the Commission as a collaborative effort, was to provide some knowledge about the age-related ailments and their management. Earlier, two Camps were organised in Betul, Madhya Pradesh and in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
