High powered NHRC Delegation attending APF Meet at Mongolia



A High powered delegation headed by NHRC Chairperson Dr. Justice A.S. Anand is now at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to participate in the 10th Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum. Speaking at the Forum, Justice Anand touched on the initiatives taken by the National Human Rights Commission, India during the last year. Shri R.S. Kalha, Member, NHRC, Shri Nirmal Singh, Secretary General, NHRC and Shri Harvinder Singh also part of the delegation.
Hosted by the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia the three-day meet, which began on 24 August 2005, will focus on prevention on torture and other forms of ill-treatment as well as the role of National Human Rights Institutions among other issues.
The Chairperson will be proceeding to Beijing, China, from 27 August - 2 September 2005 on an invitation from the China Society for Human Rights Studies. During his visit to China, the Chairperson will be interacting with several high dignitaries in the Chinese Government, experts of the Human Rights Research Centre of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Society of Human Rights Studies, as also from the judiciary. Meetings have also been scheduled with dignitaries in Shanghai. He would also be holding discussions with professors at the Human Rights Centre of the famous Fudan University.
