Human Rights training programme held at Rewari

Mr. P.C. Sharma, Member, National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, addressed the participants of a training programme on human rights organized by a Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, Janata Kalyan Samiti on the 4th February, 2011 at Rewari in Rajasthan.
He said that the district administration should look into the proper implementation of welfare schemes to provide relief to the needy. In this regard special care needs to be taken in reaching out to the senior citizens. For this, he said that in addition to the public authorities, young generation should also come forward to understand the problems of elderly persons and help them solve. He also asked the district administration to take immediate action on receiving the complaints of human rights violations. Mr. Sharma honoured two senior citizens - Mrs. Rama Devi aged 101 years and Mrs. Chaya Devi aged 102 years, on the occasion.
During the programme Mr. R.N. Mahlawat, Programme Convenor, talked about several issues of human rights and the difficulties faced by the police personnel. The programme was attended by the senior officers at the district level, NGOs and senior citizens among them.
Mr. Sharma accompanied by Dr. Sanjay Dubey, Director (Administration), NHRC also visited the senior citizens' cell run by the district police for redressal of their grievances.
