Inter CPO Debate Competition

With a view to creating a proper and sharper awareness of human rights among personnel of the para-military forces, the Commission, with the help of the Central Police Organizations (CPOs), annually organizes an Inter-CPO Debating Competition for personnel of the para-military forces. This year, the debate was held on 25 September 2002 on the topic There is no conflict between respect for Human Rights and the morale of Security Forces in combating terrorism under the existing law.
Personnel from the RPF, NSG, ITBP, Assam Rifles, BSF and SSB participated in the debate, which was held both in Hindi and English. The panel of Judges comprised Justice Smt. Sujata V. Manohar, Member, NHRC, Shri Sudarshan Agarwal, former Member, NHRC and Dr. R.C. Jha, former DG, ITBP.
In the debate in Hindi, the first prize was awarded to Ct/GD. D.C.Deswal of CRPF, Shri P.K. Upadhaya, AC of BSF stood second and Hav. G.B. Mishra of Assam Rifles stood third. In the debate in English, Ms. Ruchira Chatterjee, ASC of RPF stood first, while ASI (M) Ganesh Babu of CRPF and Shri D.P. Upadhyay, Prov Dte of NSG were in the second and the third position respectively. The Trophy for the best team went to the CRPF.
