Inter-CPO Human Rights Debate Competition, 2006

NHRC is organizing an Inter-CPO (Central Police Organizations) debate competition on Human Rights issues on 16th & 17th of this month. Since 1996 the Commission has been organizing the competition and one CPO organizes the debate under the aegis of the Commission. This year ITBP has been given the task to organize the competition. Since 2004 a format is followed, where the country is divided into eight zones for the competition. The zonal rounds of the debate have been completed and the semi-final and final rounds will be held on these two days in the capital, Delhi.
The topic for this year is " Hirasat mein himsa manav garima par ek sadha hua prahar hai aur isase police karvyahi mein bhi behtary nahi atee" (Custodial violence is a calculated assault on human dignity and it does not lead to better policing). ITBP camp, Tigri will be the venue for the Semi- final while the final will be held at the Scope Complex auditorium.
