Justice Shri B.C. Patel joins as Member
Justice Shri B.C. Patel has joined the Commission as a Member. A product of Gujarat University, Justice Patel joined the legal profession as an advocate in the City Civil Court, Ahmedabad in 1968. In 1990, he was elevated to the Bench of Gujarat High Court. As a Judge of the High Court, Justice Patel had occasion to preside over the Green Bench hearing environmental matters.
Justice Patel was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir in 2002. He became the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court in March, 2003 where apart from civil, criminal and revenue matters, he decided public interest litigations in the form of writ petitions. While hearing the matters at Ahmedabad, Srinagar, Jammu and Delhi, authorities were called upon to maintain the water bodies, ancient monuments and strictly enforce the building regulations.
He retired as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court in August, 2005 and joined the Commission on July 23, 2008.
