An NHRC team headed by Justice Shri D. Murugesan, Member and comprising Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain, SSP, Investigation Division and Shri O.P. Vyas, AR (Law) visited the Union Territory of Lakshadweep from the 24th - 28th February, 2014 to review the steps taken by the UT Administration after an NHRC team's visit to the Union Territory last year.
The NHRC team was briefed about the measures taken in ensuring the right to education, access to healthcare for the betterment of the residents of the Lakshadweep islands.
The IG Hospital at Kavaratti and Agatti islands was visited to assess the situation on the ground. An open hearing was also held on the problems of the people which will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
