Justice Shri D. Murugesan, Member, NHRC accompanied by Shri Shyam Sunder, Special Rapporteur, NHRC, visited the Government School for the Severely Orthopaedically Handicapped Children at Housing Board Colony, Villapuram, Madurai, Tamil Nadu on the 6th December, 2014. He took stock of the problems relating to the functioning of the school. The school authorities expressed their concern over hike in Electricity Board charges and said that the annual allocation of Rs. 16,000/- was insufficient to meet its functional requirements.
