A team of the Commission led by Member, Mr. Justice B.C. Patel visited the District Hospital, Bhawanipatna on the 25th February, 2010. Taking suo motu cognizance of the lack of facilities and inadequate manpower, the Commission on the 18th March, 2010 observed that there is gross negligence on the part of the authorities concerned to provide appropriate medical
health care to the citizens which amounts to violation of their human right to health. A
notice was issued to the Chief Secretary, Government of Orissa calling for a report in the matter.
