As part of the UN mandated process of Universal Periodic Review (UPR), the National Human Rights Commission decided to organise six regional consultations to assess the existing human rights situation in different parts of the country for the third UPR. In the series, the Lucknow Region Consultation was organised for the States of Madhya Pradesh, Utter Pradesh and Bihar in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh from the
14th -15th July, 2016.
Shri Sunil Krishna, Special Rapporteur, NHRC chaired the meeting. Senior officers of the concerned States, representatives of NGO's working in the area of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, women and children's rights, NHRC Joint Secretary (T&R), Shri J.S. Kochher, Joint Director (Research), Dr. Savita Bhakhry were present.
