Media carried reports on the 30th January, 2010 alleging that a doctor and a nurse of B.B.M.P. Maternity Hospital at Vediyur, Bengaluru injected a pregnant lady causing serious complications to her health. The lady was forced to go to another hospital Vani Vilas, where she delivered a still born baby. After this, she had to go for surgery to remove her uterus. Taking suo motu cognizance of the media report on the 8th February, 2010, the Commission observed that its contents, if true, raise serious issue of violation of human rights of the lady and issued a notice to the Chief Secretary, Secretary, Department of Health, Karnataka Government and Medical Superintendant, B.B.M.P. Maternity Hospital at Vediyur calling for reports in the matter.
