The National Human Rights Commission gave assistance to Sane and Enthusiast Volunteers Association of Calcutta (SEVAC), an NGO, to organize "Mental Health Education Programme for Police Personnel" in Kolkata, West Bengal on the 16th-17th July, 2012 and in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on the 30th -31st July, 2012. Representing the Commission in the programmes, Mr. A.K. Parashar, Joint Registrar (Law) spoke about the challenges of mental healthcare and Commission's intervention for mobilizing proactive participation of all the concerned for improvement of healthcare system in the country. He also drew attention of the participants towards the NHRC report on "Quality Assurance in Mental Health".
