Shialesh, son of Tara Chand and Sameer @ Lucky, son of Abdul were lodged in sub-jail, Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. On the 24th April, 2008, a fight broke out among the prisoners leaving the two seriously injured. They were sent for treatment to District Hospital, Balaghat where they succumbed to their injuries. The Commission found that the jailor Hukhum Singh instigated the other under trial prisoners to inflict injuries upon Shialesh and Sameer. It recommended that the state government raise the raised monetary relief for their families from Rupees fifty thousand each to Rupees one lakh each.
