M r. Gurbachan Singh joined the National Human Rights Commission as the Director General (Investigation) on the 28th December 2017. He is a 1984 batch Indian Police Service officer of Odisha cadre. Prior to joining the Commission, he was holding the position of the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. He has held senior positions in different areas of investigation and intelligence. He was also the part of the Commonwealth Mission as a Member on visit to South Africa for the historical elections held in 1994. Besides, he also served as a Counsellor at the High Commission of India at Ottawa, Canada between December 2001 to June 2005.
