MSHRC celebrates Human Rights Day


Reports of special functions organized to observe Human Rights Day on 10th December in different parts of the country are pouring in. The State Human Rights Commission of Maharashtra also organized a function in this connection. Justice S.B. Mhase, Chairperson, State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission and the Chief Guest on the occasion reminded the people about the rich-social and cultural values and hoped that they would imbibe them to protect and defend human rights.

Shri Mafiul Hussain, Secretary, MSHRC said that since its inception on 15th January, 2000, the Commission has received 54703 complaints and most of them have been disposed of. However, disposal of complaints is getting affected as no Chairperson and Member has been appointed since March, 2012.

The other dignitaries who addressed the gathering included Shri Sudhir Thakare, Chairman, MPSC, Fr. Frazer Mascarenhas, Principal, St. Xavier's College and Shri S.S. Vagal, IGP, MSHRC.
