Shri D. Mukherjee, a 1971 batch IPS Officer of the Tamil Nadu Cadre, assumed charge as DG (Investigation), NHRC on 16 March 2006. Prior to this he was Additional Director (Anti Corruption), CBI, New Delhi. He succeeds Dr. G.S. Rajagopal who has been posted as Special Secretary (IS), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Shri P. Michael Vetha Siromony has joined the NHRC as Chief Coordinator (Training). A 1982 batch IAS officer of the Kerala Cadre took charge on 16 March 2006.
