New Member of NHRC
Shri P.C. Sharma, an officer from the 1966 batch of the Indian Police Service (Assam Cadre), assumed charge as Member of the National Human Rights Commission on 3 March 2004.
Prior to joining the Commission, he held the post of Director, Central Bureau of Investigation till his retirement in December 2003.
Shri Sharma was also elected to the Executive Committee of ICPO - Interpol as Vice President (Asia) at the 72nd General Assembly Session in 2003 at Spain.
Shri P.C. Sharma fills in the vacancy created on the retirement of Shri Virendra Dayal in November 2003.
