NHRC Award for Creative Writing in Hindi announced<

Dr. K. S. Dwivedi and Dr. Sushil Kumar Bhatia have been jointly awarded first prize by the National Human Rights Commission for Creative Writing on Human Rights in Hindi for the year 2002-2003. The second prize went to Dr. (Mrs.) Deepa Singh and Shri K.P. Singh while the third prize has been jointly awarded to Shri Vikram Singh and Shri Vinod Kumar Mishra.
Dr. Dwivedi's book 'Manav Adhikar Darshan' deals with the need for an inseparable relationship between human rights and social system while Dr. Sushil Kumar Bhatia in his book 'Bharatiya Sanskriti Ke Panch Adhyaya' dwells on how human rights are essential for the development of man's personality.
The second prize went to Dr. (Mrs.) Deepa Singh and Shri K.P. Singh who co-authored the book 'Manavadhikar Aur Pulis Tantra', which deals with Human Rights and police system. Shri Vikram Singh's 'Manavadhikar and Pulis' has won him the third prize. He shared the third prize jointly with Shri Vinod Kumar Mishra who authored the book "Manavadhikar Aur Vikalangon Ke Kanooni Adhikar'
These bi-annual awards were constituted by NHRC in 1998 and include two categories in order to promote original writings in Hindi on various subjects pertaining to human rights. The first category is for the best original work in Hindi with the first prize carrying a cash award of Rs. 25,000/-, the second prize carrying a sum of Rs.20,000/- and the third prize Rs. 15,000/-.
The second category is for translation into Hindi of standard books on Human Rights in English and regional languages. The prize money being Rs.15,000/-, Rs.10,000/- and Rs. 7,500/- for the first, second and third prizes respectively. No entries were received for the translation category for the year 2002-2003.
The awards will be given to the winners at a function likely to be held next month.
