A delegation of the NHRC headed by Member, Shri S.C. Sinha visited Lucknow from 16th-17th May, 2013 and held discussions with the senior officers of the State government including the Acting Chief Secretary, DGP and Principal Home Secretary. The focus of discussion was pending cases and other important human rights issues. Later, the delegation visited District jail, Lucknow to inspect the infrastructural facilities, living conditions of prisoners and the functioning of the jail administration. The delegation also met with the representatives of NGOs and discussed the problems faced by them in their efforts towards promotion and protection of human rights. Shri S.K. Tiwari, Spl. Rapporteur for UP and Shri A. K. Parashar, Joint Registrar (law) were part of the delegation.
