NHRC DIG (Investigation) RECOGNISED WITH PRESIDENT'S POLICE MEDAL FOR MERITORIOUS SEVICES

Mr. Satinder Pal Singh, Deputy Inspector General ( Investigation), National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has been recognized with the President's Police medal for meritorious services. He is 1995 batch officer of India Police Service, IPS, of Himachal Pradesh cadre. He is posted in the Investigation Division of NHRC since June, 2006 and has conducted several investigations.
Mr. Singh's investigations into the activities of the Salwa Judum in Chattisgarh, the violence in Nandigram, West Bengal and the incidents of communal violence Karnataka are among some of the important ones.
Prior to his appointment in NHRC, Mr. Singh served as the Superintendent of Police in the three districts of Sirmaur, Mandi and Kangda in Himachal Pradesh. He also has the distinction of representing Indian Contingent of the UN Civilian Police at Kosovo in 2004. He is also a winner of sword of honour in his batch of IPS officers at the National Police Academy, Hyderabad.
