NHRC helps to recover two kidnapped minor girls

The National Human Rights Commission has helped trace and recover two minor girls who were kidnapped. The Commission's Investigation Team was sent for on the spot investigation after the girl's father approached the Commission for help. The father serving as a Head Constable of BSF in his petition dated 7 October 2005 alleged that his two minor daughters namely Radha (17) and Neetu (13) were kidnapped from the market of Kishan Ganj town (Bihar) on 19 September 2005 and the police despite a formal report, was not taking the necessary action. The Commission's investigation team conducted on the spot investigations at Varanasi, Amritsar, Kishan Ganj and Mumbai. During the course of its investigation, the team came to know through a number of sources that both the girls had married persons from other communities and were staying at Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh. On 14 December 2005 and 17 December 2005, both the girls were recovered and the Bihar Police was informed for taking appropriate legal action. Simultaneously, the team informed the father of the girls and he has since taken possession of his younger daughter on 19 December 2005.
