NHRC issues notice to SP, Farrukhabad

The Commission took suo-motu cognizance on a distressing report appeared in "Dainik Jagran" dated 9/1/2009 captioned Yuvak ko dhuna phir zanzeer bandh ghumaya.
The report inter-alia alleged that one Gulab S/o Devender r/o Nagia Badhpur, District Farrukhabad who was picked up by the people while making a theft of bike No. UP 74/4393 belonging to Mr. Arvind Yadav. He was severely beaten up, chained and paraded in the market, but the police did not take any action.
The Commission considers it as serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim Gulab.
The Commission issued notice to SP, Farrukhabad for sending a factual report in the matter to the Commission within two weeks.
