The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the fire, which devastated a mental asylum in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu today early morning, in which 25 inmates who were chained, were charred to death. It has issued notice to the Chief Secretary, Tamil Nadu to report to the Commission within a week about this incident and the steps taken by the Government in this regard.
