NHRC issues notice to the SP, GRP, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh

The National Human Rights Commission has sent notice to SP, GRP Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh on a news report captioned "Chandausi Passenger train mein lootpat, Yuvati ko phenka", which appeared in 'Amar Ujala', on February 13, 2007. .
The news report alleged that about 40 passengers of Chandausi -Moradabad passenger train coming from Chandausi were assaulted and looted during daytime by about 15 youths, a day earlier. At Jalgaon station, these youths threw out a lady passenger from the train. The driver and the guard of the train were made hostage the report said.
The Commission has directed that a copy of the newspaper clipping be sent to the SP, GRP Moradabad, to look into the matter and send a report within two weeks.
