NHRC issues notices to DG (Prisons), Karnataka and Jail Superintendent, Gulbarga on allegations of non-release of prisoners after completion of their sentence

The National Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of complaints that six prisoners have not been released from the Gulbarga Jail, Karnataka even after completing their sentence for 14 years. It has issued notices to the Director General (Prisons) and Superintendent, Gulbarga Jail, Karnataka calling for a report within 15 days.

Allegedly, the prisoners are Gurmeet Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Shamsher Singh, Lal Singh, Wariam Singh and Gurdeep Singh Khaira. They were serving sentence for murder charges.
