NHRC notice to DGP, Haryana over complaint of police assault on journalists in Hissar (18.11.2014)

The National Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of a complaint that some journalists were beaten by police personnel near Sant Rampal's Ashram in Hissar, Haryana where they had assembled at an earmarked place for coverage of delay in arrest of one Sant Rampal.
The Commission has observed that the allegations leveled in the complaint, if true, amount to violation of human rights of the media persons. Accordingly, a notice has been issued to the Director General of Police, Haryana calling for a report in the matter within two weeks.
