NHRC notice to the Government of Madhya Pradesh over deaths due to electrocution in Narsinghpur( (17/07/2015)

The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Principal Secretary, Department of Power, Government of Madhya Pradesh after taking suo motu cognizance of a media report that two girls were electrocuted after a 11 KV line broke down and fell on them near Lathgaon crossing, Gotegaon in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh on the 11th July, 2015.
The Commission has observed that the contents of the media report, if true, raise a serious issue of human rights violations of the victim children. It has given two weeks time to the concerned authority to submit a factual report in the matter.
According to the media report the two girls-Nidhi Mehra, aged 12 and Raj Kumar, aged 16, residents of Ayodhya Basti in Hardol Ward of Gotegaon had gone out for easing themselves in the evening when the incident happened.
