The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, Government of Jharkhand calling for reports within four weeks into the allegations that during the police action against a protesting mob in Ranchi, one Bolo Uraon, a government servant, was killed and several others were injured.
The media report published on the 4th September 2012 also carried a photo of a person partially lying under the wheels of a police vehicle.
Allegedly, thousands of people belonging to Jharkhand Vikas Morcha were protesting against the acquisition of agricultural land when police rained batons and fired tear gas shells on the demonstrators.
The Commission observed that the media report, if true, raises a serious issue of violation of human rights.
