The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a police constable, along with his friend, gang raped a woman at an outpost attached to Mualasar Police Station, District Nagaur, Rajasthan in the night of 22nd June, 2015.

The Commission has observed that the contents of the media report, if true, amount to blatant violation of human rights of the woman by a public servant. Accordingly, it has issued notices to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Nagaur, Rajasthan calling for report in the matter within two weeks.

According to media report, the police constable was arrested and a case had been registered in the matter. Search is on for his accomplice and further investigation is in progress.
