NHRC notices to KVS and SP, Kanker, Chhattisgarh over allegations of sexual exploitation of a student in Central School (09.9.2015)

The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo-motu cognizance of a media report that a Peon subjected a seven year old student to continuous un-natural sexual exploitation in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kanker, Chhattisgarh. This made the child disinterested in going to school.
The Commission, while issuing notices to the Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Superintendent of Police, Kanker, Chhattisgarh calling for factual reports in the matter within two weeks, has observed that the contents of the report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim child.
According to the media report, the Principle of the School did not give a satisfactory response to the parents of the victim student when they approached him with a complaint against the Peon. Subsequently, they approached the police and the accused was arrested.
